“Placement”

My work deals with time as the vehicle for change and transformation.

In my recent work, I am interested in both the process, and the alarming rate, of urbanization and globalization.

These phenomena are changing our physical and psychic spaces.

The world-wide shift to high-density urban centres, and the relocation of people from the land to the city or from one country to another, can cause the loss of a sense of rootedness and the loss of belonging to a place and culture.

This process results in a relocation and re-invention of the self.

I work with fragmented mosaics, using fractured imprinted porcelain sheets, found objects, and photography.

The photographs are cut and altered to become part of the three-dimensional objects and panels that are placed as elements in gallery installations.
